MealLuma Terms & EULA
Last updated: 10 July 2026
1. License
MealLuma is the new name for PlateLens. These Terms continue to govern the same app, including existing accounts and subscriptions. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use MealLuma on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and Apple's App Store terms (including the standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement). By downloading or using MealLuma you accept this EULA.
2. Subscriptions
- MealLuma Pro is an auto-renewable subscription offered through Apple In-App Purchase. The US reference prices are $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year. StoreKit shows your actual local price before purchase. Eligible accounts may be shown a 7-day introductory free trial; availability and eligibility are confirmed by StoreKit in the app. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings. There is no external purchase path.
- If an introductory trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Prices are shown in the App Store before you buy, and refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies.
- The free plan uses the same nutrition pipeline and accuracy as Pro. It includes three combined Photo or Describe analyses per day, Barcode, USDA reference search, on-device nutrition-label scanning, manual entry, editable source-linked results, portion scaling, remembered corrections, favorites, individual Usual re-logging, and a 7-day summary.
- Pro adds up to 150 combined Photo or Describe analyses per day, Smart Usuals bulk re-logging for 2–10 meals, structured weekly intelligence, 30- and 90-day prior-window comparisons, and the optional protein-first display. These features save time and add review tools; Pro does not unlock a different nutrition-accuracy tier.
3. Your content
You own the meals and content you create in MealLuma. You grant us the limited rights needed to store and process that content so the app can work. A synchronous Photo request sends the image and any optional dish hint to OpenAI, while a Describe request sends the text you enter. Requests use store:false, and MealLuma does not persist the Photo image in its storage. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train models by default, although abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days. Nutrition-label recognition runs on-device. Barcode lookup sends only the barcode number to Open Food Facts. Hale Hearth does not use your content to train models. See our Privacy Policy.
4. Estimates and AI
MealLuma produces or calculates nutrition results from photos, descriptions, barcodes, nutrition labels, reference foods, saved corrections, and portion changes. Results can be inaccurate or incomplete and are provided for general tracking only. Neither a 2D photo nor a short description can establish exact volume or hidden ingredients, and source records can differ from the food or serving you consumed. Review the source, portion and editable nutrition before saving. Results are not professional, medical or dietary advice.
5. Acceptable use
- MealLuma is for your personal nutrition tracking.
- Don't misuse the service, attempt to abuse automated scans, or upload content that isn't a photo of food you're logging.
- Don't attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the app or its systems.
- Don't use MealLuma if you are under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).
6. Termination
You can stop using MealLuma and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or misuse the service.
7. Disclaimers
MealLuma is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and do not guarantee the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hale Hearth will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of MealLuma. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer law, including the Australian Consumer Law, that cannot be excluded.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
